Cong, BJP spar over Lalit Modi’s claim of ‘meeting Gandhi family’ in London

NEW DELHI: A war of words has broken out between the BJP and Congress over former IPL chief Lalit Modi’s claim of “meeting Priyanka Gandhi and Robert Vadra in London.

In a series of tweets, the former IPL boss claimed that he was “happy to meet the Gandhi family at a restaurant in London”.

“I had run into Robert and Priyanka separately,” Lalit Modi said in a tweet.

Commenting on Lalit Modi’t tweets, Congress leader Randeep Surjewala said that “neither Priyanka Gandhi nor Robert Vadra has ever interacted socially with Lalit Modi”.

“If you see an individual in a restaurant full of people, it is neither a crime nor it is morally wrong,” Surjewala said.

But, BJP wondered that “why Gandhi family is in constant touch of Lalit Modi”.

“Certain tweets are coming to fore front. We have come to learn that Lalit Modi had a meeting with Gandhi family yesterday,” BJP leader Sambit Patra said.

“We want to ask as to why Gandhi family is in constant touch of Lalit Modi? This raises a serious question,” Sambit Patra said.
